JJ has his meeting today...it's probably going on right now. It's driving me crazy not to be there. I hope it goes well. Shit, I hope it goes a hundred times better than well. His DHS worker is supposed to be there, hopefully to kick some Children's Home butt.

He had the meeting. His DHS worker neither showed up, or phoned in. They said nothing about his excellent behavior since he's been in the Acopian Center...twice the originally set time, I might add, just that they were moving him back to a less restrictive unit because they "needed the bed space". They said he shouldn't count on coming to live here anytime soon and that he's only allowed to visit every other weekend. I'm still waiting for his caseworker to return my call.
I don't get why they aren't eager to get him in a good home and to free up a bed for another kid. What do they get out of keeping him? Jesus.
I still say they don't think a kid like him belongs with a white middle class family ,they want him to go to a home that fits his background ,because they truly believe it's better for a child to spend years in a home than it is for them to be with a family who's cultural background doesn't match up with their ideal.Which is why childrens homes are full of poor bloody kids who have been refused adoption and fostering because the right ethnic mix of parent can't be found ,at least according to a friend of mine who works in social services over here.It's not exactly racism because they believe its in the childs interest to be placed people who understand the cultural needs of the child.If you ask me it;s a crock of shit but I bet the aunt they are trying to get him to visit and form bonds with isn't awhite middle class schoolteacher.
Me I think what they are doing is criminal not just to JJ but to all those other kids who could be fostered out to caring people be they same sex relationships black white geen or martian ,It makes me dispair of ever having a society where the creed the colour and the name don't matter.
