"Tears on my pillow, pain in my heart..."

I need a new pillow. I had the best pillow in the world. I'd had it since I was a kid (imagine the "stuff" living inside of it) but I had to get rid of it about a year or so ago. Now, I can't find a pillow I like. I wake up with headaches, and neckaches all the time. It can't be too soft, and it can't be too hard. It needs to be just right. I feel like Goldilocks. A couple of months ago Keith bought me a $75 pillow with memory foam inserts in them - yuck. The worst pillow yet. And, the problem is, in the store, they all feel comfortable. Of course, I'm only touching them. Not laying on them for six hours.
Any recommendations? Can I get a little assistance? Help a brother out!

i have to have just the right pillow too. i hate foam pillows. they make my ear fall asleep. i prefer one with polyester that is made to resemble the same effect of feathers. i tried feather pillows but sometimes the feathers stick out and poke my face. you should go to a bed bath and beyond shop and feel around till you find one that feels like your old one.

Binx, did you ever read "Your Ass is My Pillow"? I don't mean your ass particularly. That's just the name of the book. I didn't read it, but the title sure reached out and grabbed me.

Blu, can you explain it again? I'm having a hard time picturing it. Do you sleep flat on your back? I'm a side sleeper.

Have you tried one of those water pillows? My chiropractor and best friend swear by them.

I sleep with 5, count 'em FIVE pillows when alone -- one on either side of me, one on each side at the head of the bed, and one in the middle of that which sort of moves around with me.

I'm a side sleeper and I find that if I pull the pillow down and in under my neck, I get plenty of support.

I sleep with at least two pillows, and occasionally four. I hate it when I go someplace and I am presented with a bed with only one pillow.

Besides the one under my head, at least one other hugs me on my side (with one on the other side if Richard's not there), and if necessary, the fourth one is over my head if Richard is still up on the computer banging out posts on his football boards to recalitrant USC fans.

I recently lost my favorite pillow to age,I sleep on my side and now use two pillows whereas before I used only one.
The bottom pillow is sort of old, flat, and quite firm while the new top pillow is soft and fluffy which allows me to mold it into an appropriate shape for comfortable sleeping. Both are down pillows and each has 2 or 3 pillow cases on them to prevent the feather effect from happening, and though I believe that the new pillow has a tight enough weave to stop the feather effect I never gave it a chance to happen by covering it with soft, cotton pillow cases. I absolutley hate foam.
